my first bundt cake

"aunt patty's coffee cake"
I don't have an Aunt Patty. Lucinda Scala Quinn does and she shared her recipe for coffee cake on her new show Mad Hungry. It's on the Hallmark Channel. This recipe has sour cream, chocolate, sugar and instant coffee. How could you go wrong? Sofia loved it. And she doesn't love everything. So if she approves I have to make it again. I think it's a good one for bake sales and potlucks too.

A few caveats. I overfloured the bundt pan (which I bought especially for this recipe). My eggs and sour cream were not at room temperature as the recipe required. When I filled the bundt pan it looked like I didn't have enough batter and way too much "filling. I could've done a better job in marble-izing the filling. I kinda dump the remaining coffee-sugar-cocoa mixture on top. But, in the end, it was pretty tasty. We ate the whole thing in three days. I freezed about a quarter of it (which Lucinda suggested) and it remained moist 3 days later. Two pieces went into Sofia's lunch yesterday, which she shared with her friend.
This one is definitely a keeper.

home-made playdough

Yesterday, I scored some mom points by making Sofi some playdough. Sofi helped measure and mix the ingredients. A good activity for a rainy + sick day.

Preschool Playdough

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/2 T vegetable oil
1 cup water with color added"

Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Cook over low heat until mixture pulls away from the pan. Knead when cooled.

* I didn't have any food coloring in the house, so ours was "dough-colored." But I added some cinnamon for scent.
